The Day Before School Starts

Like I mentioned yesterday, I woke up really darn sick. =/ Very sore throat, runny and congested nose, body chills, and flash fevers. Right before school starts, of course.

Breakfast: half a cup of Stonyfield Low Fat French Vanilla yogurt with a spoonful of almond butter and a small can of pineapple orange juice since it was the only juice we had. (I’ve really missed Stonyfield yogurt. It’s so smooth!)

So today feels like an extremely productive day!

Started off with an early wake up so I could eat some breakfast (Kashi Golean Vanilla Graham Clusters, popped quinoa, and dried cherries) before rushing to my school to sign the papers of acceptance into the DPD program! =D That’s right, I got accepted and am now one tiny step closer to becoming a Registered Dietician Nutritionist. Hazzah.

Old Lady

I am so exhausted I am going to go jump in bed as soon as I publish this. Today I was just physically spent all day long.

It started with me waking up at 6am, having a breakfast of strawberry overnight oats with chocolate cherry almond butter and golden raisins, then rushing out to catch the bus. Well not rushing too fast. Somehow I managed to forget to foam roll last night even after I complained about my knee hurting, so when I climbed out of bed this morning both of my legs were as stiff as boards. I’ve been in pain all day and walked like an old lady.

Whoa whoa, I gotta go, Back to School……AGAIN!

Man am I beat. I forgot how much energy it takes to learn!!

I got up at 6am this morning, showered, and had a nice cold breakfast of overnight oats with frozen strawberries, a spoonful of my new chocolate cherry almond butter, toasted almonds, and golden raisins. Yum-o! Sadly, all the strawberry flavor masked the almond butter. I just couldn’t turn down adding some fruit!

New Tuesday

I love my new Tuesday. No more eight hour work day. Nope, just me, my studies, and soon, my volunteer work!

I woke up around 8am to a hot breakfast of blueberry oatmeal.

  • 1/4 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/3 cup raw oats
  • 1 tbsp Bob’s Red Mill Mighty Cereal
  • 1 cup water

Topped with White Chocolate Wonderful PB and golden raisins. My love of hot cereal is coming back to me. I just can’t see me eating it after a hot and sweaty workout though. >.< I’d just sweat into my bowl!

Bug Bites

I kept waking up last night due to some rude spider biting in me in my sleep! I now have two bites on my left leg and they are big and itchy.  -_- I hate bug bites!

At least it wasn’t as bad as when this happened. When I was 5 years old we went camping and I woke up with three huge mosquitoe bites around my eyes! They almost swelled shut. >.< My dad kept telling me I looked like a Chinese prize fighter.

Bloating

This week my stomach has been very bloated and I have felt just well..fat. Not only is it bloated but I’ve been getting lots of gas and uncomfortable stomach pains. Not to mention this feeling messes with my hunger cues. Starting tomorrow I’m really going to try and focus on “de-bloating”  foods.

Today though I just ate normally. Woke up bright and early to some delectable Greek yogurt with Kashi Golean Crunch (which I am now all out of!! I need to try a new cereal!), ground flax, dried cherries, and almond butter. Heaven.

Whenever I eat yogurt it’s like one of those slow motion sensual moments in movies. It’s like dairy and I are making up for lost time. ^_^ I savor every bite.

Rejuvenated

First off I want to say thank you to everyone who commented on my last post. =) It really meant the world to me to hear that you guys really do read this! Sometimes I feel like I’m just talking to myself. >.> So again, thank you. I do intend to keep blogging though perhaps I will try not to feel so stressed if I don’t have time for it on some days.

Some responses I received asked for an update on my jobs and microbiology class so here goes:

1. Safeway Starbucks Barista – I finally started training for it this week and I am loving it! Today, for example, I got to make a lot of drinks and taste each one. ~.^ I also enjoy my co-workers which is always a plus. I may get some new friends out of this!

2. Optometry Reception – This job is growing on me but I still don’t care for it much. I hardly work (4-7 on Wed and at the most 11-4 on Sat). If I start to feel too stressed I may just quit this one and focus on coffee. However, they pay better than Safeway and it always looks good to keep reception on your resume. =/ For now I’ll hang onto it.

3. Microbiology – So far this class seems pointless since most of it is either really basic or stuff I already covered in my cell & molec class. In lab we’ve: inoculated plates, streaked for isolation, learned how to use a microscope, and done bacterial smears and simple staining. At least it’s easy so I don’t have to spend too much out of class time on it.

Espresso Shot

Next weekend I am just going to sit on my butt and sleep. I am soo exhausted. I had big plans to wake up at 7am today and fit in my workout before my first day of Starbucks training at 10am but my body really needed the sleep instead.

As it turned out I made myself get out of bed at 7:30am and made this delicious bowl of Costco Greek yogurt, Kashi Golean Crunch, ground flax, fresh organic strawberries, dried cherries, and almond butter. Mmm mm! Love dairy. I then stumbled back to bed for another hour of sleep. I am so very glad I did too. I needed it.
