No Hunger

So my new allergy pills have the side effect of “loss of appetite” which sounds like a good thing right? Well..I’m having issues with it now.

Breakfast for example was a hodge podge of things instead of my usual big hearty meal. I finally got to try a Chobani Flip in Key Lime Crumble flavor, along with a hard boiled egg and an orange. The Flip was tasty and Vinni approved, but a little too sweet. Something decent for when you’re really in the mood for a treat.

After this small breakfast, I hit the gym for a sweaty 60 minute hill stationary bike. I was going to go 30 more minutes to make up for taking Monday off but honestly my body screamed no.

No inspirational quote today because this photo is inspirational enough! Congratulations to my sister, Whitney, for getting her Masters degree in Fine Arts from the University of San Diego. She finished her final thesis (and I helped with my miniscule Japanese skills!) this week and now just has the summer to finish up her acting program with The Old Globe Theater in Balboa Park.

She’ll always be the person I look to whenever I need to feel brave, social, or just plain friendly. <3 I’m so glad my mother was able to go visit her to see her thesis!

Anyway, sorry this post is late but you’ll see why shortly. Heart

On the Mend

Blarg! Still sick. =/ My body let me sleep in until 11:30am though! It really needed the rest.

20130225-NEW 001

Then I took the time to make myself a hot breakfast of plain oats (1/3 cup raw oats, 1 tbsp. gluten free hot cereal, 1 tsp. ground flax) topped with a spoonful of Cookie Butter and craisins. To increase my protein intake (Carole @ Hypnotic Nutrition totally swears by 30g of protein in the morning so I’ve been really trying to stay true to that), I also had a hard boiled egg with S&P on the side.

Achy and Gunky

Thanks for all your input on my nutrition news piece. I’m leaning towards the topic of eggs and if they are healthy for us or not. There are plenty of topics I’d love to write papers on though so maybe I’ll get the chance to another time.

20130224-NEW 001

This morning I woke up sick. AGAIN! This time my throat is all gunky, my whole body aches, and my head hurts. =/ I don’t understand why I keep catching things! I kept breakfast simple since I wasn’t in the mood to cook: Weetabix (yes I bought a new box yesterday!), ground flax, banana, dried currants, and roasted peanuts.

I spent the morning at my desk reading for Nutrition Throughout Life and Biochemistry, and researching my topic. I got to bang out that piece tomorrow!

Still Waning

I was hoping that when I woke up this morning I’d be on the mend from this cold I apparently caught. Alas though it was not to be.I definitely only got worse today.

20130208-NEW 001

I managed to sleep in until 10:30am though! Finally my stomach forced me out of bed to eat. I grabbed a simple bowl of Weetabix topped with ground flax, 1/2 banana, fresh blueberries, toasted almonds, and golden raisins. I ended up eating the other half of the banana with a little bit of sunflower seed butter as well.

Dessersday

T.G.I.D! Thank gods it’s Dessersday! Yes that’s right, Dessert Thursday is now officially called Dessersday. It makes saying no to the delectable desserts my cafeteria produces throughout the week doable, because I know I get to have one on Dessersday. ^_^ Yes it’s pretty much like a “Cookie Friday”. I highly recommend it.

20130207-NEW 003

However, Dessersday still starts off like any other day. I got to sleep in until 8am since I was driving myself to school today (Danae had an appt). I was glad I got this extra sleep because, while I didn’t mention it, last night I was sneezing all evening long and had a stuffy nose. Today I’ve had kind of that sick head-cold feeling and a flushed look. =/ I think I’m coming down with something.

Anyway I had another bowl of Weetabix, this time enjoyed with a 1/4 cup of a homemade granola one of Chase’s coworkers gifted him with, fresh blueberries, and ground flax. The homemade granola was hardly sweetened so while it didn’t had add any flavor it was a nice texture component! I took my time with this bowl while I studied for my A&P lab quiz and Vincent kept head-butting me to hurry up so he could lick it. >.< I know, he’s spoiled.

Unexpected

Yesterday turned out to be quiet a day and not one I expected at all.

20130202-NEW 002

I was up early in order to deliver trays before work. That’s right, I’ve switched my Monday night delivery to Saturday morning because I’m getting up anyway for work! Might as well get it done.

Before I left I had a marvelous bowl of, you guessed it, Weetabix, topped with fresh blueberries (yes, after writing that paper on their benefits I just couldn’t wait for their season any longer), ground flax, 1/2 bag NatureBox Cranberry Almond Bites, Wild Berry Bunch, and toasted pecans. Now that I’ve finished the first sleeve of Weetabix I swear I’ll try to make my breakfasts different and more interesting. ~.^

Getting By

Arg. Well I didn’t wake up feeling 100% better. In fact, I woke up with the back of my head hurting like crazy. Not migraine/headache type pain, but more of a congested pressure feeling. Bleh.

20121218-NOW 001

I had a simple breakfast of a toasted whole grain English muffin with sunflower seed butter, Jaycee’s raspberry jam, and ground flax plus the last glass of 2% milk. To amp up my vitamin C intake I also had a very rare orange. Normally oranges make me kind of sick, but today it was much appreciated.
