Cabbage

Ah my neck did so much better today! It’s crazy how much your life can be interrupted when you’re in pain and unable to function like normal. Really makes you appreciate your body.

I woke up at 8am this morning refreshed and ready for my weekend! I started it with a simple bowl of Weetabix, blueberries, and toasted walnuts then got straight to work on a paper. I thought about trying to make it green for St. Patty’s but that was just too much work so I threw in a green spoon. ~.^

Not soon after finishing I hit the gym for a sweaty 60 minute hill stationary bike ride. I decided not to do strength training today since my trapezius is still sore.

Perfect Gift

My Valentine’s Day this year turned out absolutely wonderful. Did you all have a good day as well? It started with me getting to sleep in since I had no A&P Lab this morning since I took the practical early. I didn’t need to be at school until 1pm!

20130214-NEW 002

I got up when I couldn’t sleep any longer (and my stomach was hungry) around 9am. I then made a hot and decadent bowl of oatmeal cooked with berries and topped with NatureBox dark chocolate trail mix. It was divine!

After a bit of digestion I hit the gym for a sweaty 30 minute treadmill interval workout at 2.0 incline. I was so happy to have my workout in for the day but I had a really hard time cooling down my body afterwards. No wonder I rarely workout in the mornings anymore. >.<

Kanpai

So it was my very first New Year’s Day in my entire life without my Dad helping me make all the sushi! O.O Chase and I were a little intimidated…but it turned out great!

20130101-NOW 008

First off we slept in until noon. >.> The good news is that neither of us remember Vinni keeping us up last night, so perhaps he is doing better! Chase was determined to start the day off with a shot of sake. I was dreading it (due to too much sake consumption during my internship in Japan) but it actually was more pleasant than I expected!

The End of 2012

Before I knew it last night it was after midnight (HAPPY NEW YEAR!) and I was surprised I hadn’t written my blog post yet! So I will try very hard to recapture how my day was yesterday. Heart

It started with me being completely exhausted and with a headache that I’d had all night long. Like I predicted, it was my night to stay up with Vinni. All night long he went running about crying. I eventually got him to calm down and lay down next to me, which moved Ophie out of her usual spot. Ophie, realizing how Vinni got her spot decided two could play that game so she started crying as well! In the end, I made sleeping Chase move the hell over so they could both lay right next to me. I’d say I got a max of 5 hours of sleep.

20121231-NOW 001

You can probably guess I wasn’t really in the mood to make a pretty looking, thought-out breakfast. I used the last of the Greek yogurt (~1/2 cup) in it’s container and threw in a serving of Granola Crisps, sunflower seed butter, and golden raisins. To be honest, I was so tired I don’t even remember eating this.

New Years Resolutions 2012

Geez. 2012 was a really big year for me. I moved away from my hometown and finally started on the path to a registered dietician career. It’s been hard (especially the last month) but it’s also been a lot of fun.

Let’s see what resolutions I had for the year and how I faired at meeting them.

2012

1. Learn how to use my camera in manual mode.

Blog UPLOAD25

I rarely use auto  mode now, though I have come to the realization that since I am not going to make photography a career, I really do not have the time to learn all the camera tricks! In fact, when my beloved big Cannon camera dies, I’m just going to get a little point and shoot. For my photography needs, I just don’t see enough of a noticeable difference!

It Gets Worse

I’d like to tell you all that even though Chase and I were stuck without our families this Xmas, that we had an absolutely wonderful holiday. Unfortunately, it managed to turn into the worst holiday ever right at the very end. I’ll tell you why in a bit.

First off, I had the worst night of sleep ever! We went to bed super early, 10am, because we were trying to get our sleep schedules back on track and I was actually quite exhausted. However, only two hours later Ophelia awoke me with her plastic chewing addiction and ever since that I was wide awake. Seriously. I stared at the ceiling. The hours crawled by. Finally I managed a few hours of sleep before 7:30am.

Then, while we waited for Chase’s parents to Skype (we got to open presents with them via web cam!) I made breakfast. My mother used to make us those super easy Pillsbury cinnamon rolls for Xmas breakfast when I was young, so feeling nostalgic I got them for Chase and I. I ate two and Chase ate the rest of the batch! I also had some yummy scrambled eggs with cheddar and some steamed cauliflower with a tad of butter and S&P. It was a delicious breakfast.

Mystery Cruise

Yesterday just flew by! It started with me crawling out of bed around 9am in order to drive Chase to work in Bellevue. (I needed the car later as you will see.)

20121212-NOW 003

When I returned, I ate a breakfast of pumpkin overnight oats topped with sunflower seed butter, craisins, and a drizzle of maple syrup. I always feel slightly bad when I eat the exact same breakfast day after day, but this one is sooooo good.

Soooo Full.

Well Thanksgiving 2012 is over and I am way stuffed! >.<

20121122-NOW 001

It started with me being awoken before 9am by a phone call from my mum to see if I was watching the parade. I wasn’t, but it was nice to talk to her first thing. ^_^ I then went to the kitchen and made something entirely new for breakfast: popped amaranth cereal! I followed the recipe exactly but ended up having to throw out my first 2 tbsps out since instead of popping they just burned. I then enjoyed the little puffs with organic ski milk, toasted almonds, and dried cherries. Next time I’d maybe cut the recipe in half because this bowl was huge!

Halloween Relaxing

Did you all have a happy Halloween? I did! No I didn’t get dressed up or anything, and sadly I only had one Trick-or-Treater the entire evening, but I took the entire night off from studying. ^_^ It felt soo good. We watched two horror movies and just laid on the couch. Relaxing.

20121031-NOW 001

Halloween morning I decided to try out this “creepy” fruit I’ve had ripening on my counter for a few weeks now. I’ve never had a persimmon before and to be honest…I don’t think I’ll get one again. The texture is like an apple…it was slightly sweet. But I really didn’t care for it! I ate one slice and put the rest in the fridge.
