No Hunger

So my new allergy pills have the side effect of “loss of appetite” which sounds like a good thing right? Well..I’m having issues with it now.

Breakfast for example was a hodge podge of things instead of my usual big hearty meal. I finally got to try a Chobani Flip in Key Lime Crumble flavor, along with a hard boiled egg and an orange. The Flip was tasty and Vinni approved, but a little too sweet. Something decent for when you’re really in the mood for a treat.

After this small breakfast, I hit the gym for a sweaty 60 minute hill stationary bike. I was going to go 30 more minutes to make up for taking Monday off but honestly my body screamed no.

Modern Meds

As you all know I’ve been struggling with allergies this year. Nothing bums me out more than having to admit I have them again. One free year with no allergies was just so nice, I’m sad to see it go.

After my long sleep, I awoke ready for the day. I had a nice cold throat-soothing bowl of  (again) Weetabix, fresh organic strawberries, toasted walnuts, and raisins. I swear I’m going to get tired of cereal eventually. =P But for now, I’m completely enjoying what for me used to be a “treat”. I didn’t grow up eating cereal, in fact, my mother used to give us a box of cereal for Xmas! That’s how special it was. Due to cereal-less life, I used to be unable to control myself around it AT ALL. Bowl after bowl of cereal would be devoured until I was ill. Now, I know I can always have another bowl tomorrow. ^_^ It makes me so deeply happy that I can do this.

No Negative

I feel like I’ve been really negative this past quarter. I want to change that. I want to be one of those positive happy people. =)

So for a little while (I guess until I’m bored with it or forget!), I’m going to start each post with a little inspirational quote.

See, doesn’t that feel nice? I never used to be such a sentimental girl, but it appears right now in life I could use these little pick me ups.

Adventure Day

Today turned out really adventure filled.

It started bright and early with Win making us egg white veggie scrambles in small whole wheat tortillas. Plus a banana! (I'm in love with them) And followed by a Mexican Mocha on the road for an hour drive east of San Diego.

Off the Sunrise Highway we found amazing hiking trails! My foot is still really messed up from yesterday but getting it moving actually helped the pain subside.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day!

We had fun chatting and taking silly photos.

Plus the traditional “Lets try to fit our giant heads in the photo and still have some background”!

After our hike, we headed to the nearby small town of Julian where we had crisp and clean veggie wraps (half each) and split slices of pie! This town is famous for pies. We shared an apple peach crumb slice and an apple mountain berry crumb one. Perfection. Normally I find pies too sweet but these ones were just right.

On our drive back to San Diego, we got sidetracked by the Viejas Resort and Casino! Normally not gamblers, we didn't really know what we were doing…

But somehow I managed to turn my $20 into $29.66!! Victory! We quickly cashed out and ran…and didn't get very far! I ended up spending it (plus more) on a new pair of flats that have Dr. Scholl's inserts built-in. My feet felt 100x better in them.

When we got back to Win's apartment we worked on her thesis for awhile before cooking up dinner. An encore of roasted Brussels sprouts with a peanut mustard sauce and the other half of our veggie wraps. Plus some more wine!

Last time I was in San Diego Win and I got delectable desserts at a place called Extraordinary Desserts. They were soo memorable, we knew we had to go there again. This time we split a Macadamium Shortbread Cookie…

And a Strawberry Coffee Cake! Wow am I full now.

Icing my foot right now. =( Hopefully I'll be able to be more active tomorrow. I feel like I'm really letting us down!

Surprises

I really need to get more sleep. I was not a happy camper when my alarm went off this morning. -_- I blame this whole Daylight Savings thing again.

I realized I've paid way too much attention to Weetabix lately and have been completley ignoring my popped amaranth! So for breakfast I poured myself a cup and topped it with half a banana, toasted walnuts, and a sprinkle of craisins. MMmm! I forgot how much I like the flavor of this. Hm I wonder if I should try half Weetabix, half amaranth! That may blow my mind.

Productive and Organized

I feel so much better about today than I did yesterday! Productivity is key.

I woke up around 9:30am, like I usually do on my weekends, and made myself a refreshing bowl of Weetabix topped with half a banana, fresh blueberries, and toasted almonds. I'm in love with cold cereal. Who knew it could keep me satisfied so well? Next up I got on the phone with Dell/Alienware tech support and got Ripley's heart transplant in progress! Should, hopefully, be all in recovery by the end of the week!

After Ripley was taken care of I hit the gym for 60 minutes hill stationary biking followed by a session of strength training. I've really noticed a difference in my upper body strength lately. I've never been able to do 30 lb bicep curls before!

Brain Cloud

Growing up, my mother was really good at finding the somewhat obscure movies made long before my time and renting them for all of us to watch. Movies such as The Greatest Show on Earth, Chorus Line, and Joe Versus the Volcano all come to mind. Today in particular I was reminded of Joe Versus the Volcano because I felt like I had a “brain cloud”!
